June 24th, 2012 Comments Off

The MnVOAD agencies held a conference call on Saturday  including representatives in Duluth. There are still several shelters open; they are being kept open at the present. The Aitkin, Moose Lake, Thomson and Barnum communities have the most severe damage. The Salvation Army was planning to go into Pine County-Willow Lake, Sturgeon and Rutledge, however, they were put on hold until Monday due to unsafe conditions. There is reportedly a lot of damage in Sturgeon Lake. Debris removal is an issue; a plan is needed before a lot of clean up begins. United Way 211 is running a volunteer registration/profile survey. They have 398 surveys completed at this time.
